where's gandalf?

so the other night we were thinking about how it would be cool to make a lord of the rings movie but set it in a different time. like how they take shakespeare plays and set them in metropolitan new york or teen suburbia. and then we thought that it could be adapted to all sorts of real events and real people could be the characters. the obvoius is hitler as sauron; in other times you could have lincoln or fdr as gandalf, maybe ghandi as frodo... but if we say that today's sauron is the bush administration, who is our gandalf? who will guide us to overthow the dark lord? it seems that the current fellowship is being led by a bunch of merrys and pippins!

where are you gandalf?
