A Challenge!

I've decided to propose a challenge, mainly to Bodie and me, but if anyone else wants to join in they are welcome to. I'd like to significantly decrease the amount of television we watch; specifically I'd like to completely cut out crap TV. I propose that we make a short list of quality TV and programs we enjoy (the Good Eats/Jeopardy hour from 7-8 on weekdays, Desperate Housewives, Lost, the occcasional Amazing Race episode, Scrubs) and then turn off the TV when those shows are not on. Lately I've been feeling like I haven't really been on top of things like I'd like to be, and the evil sticky grips of bad television seem to assist in my lack of motivation. There's really no need to watch stupid game shows and fear factor, we do this because "there's nothing else on." Let's turn it off! I know NPR has some excellent programs in the evening - let's listen to the radio! Or read, or play trivial pursuit, or other nerdy things like PS2 golf and chess!

Recently we went out to dinner and had some discussions about Smokey and the Bandit. I never laugh that hard while watching TV. I think that's a sign.

Do you accept my challenge?

That's a damn fine idea.

Smokey and the bandit is truly an under rated classic.
