Der Perfect Taco!

I recently dicovered Gastronomica, The Journal of Food and Culture, and I am super impressed. I am not sure that I am going to shell out the 40 bucks to recieve 4 quarterly issues, but I will probably pick them up on the news stand if I see them.

The articles are intelligent and moving in a way most journalism, let alone food writing, rarely is. The article on War time cooking in Chechnya is heart wrenching, and the article about the search for the perfect west coast peach is inspiring and informative. Apparently it is all about Frog Hollow in California, though there are apparently very good peaches from Pence Orchards in Wapato, Washington.
