take a little trip...
I found this "dog island" site through Odd Todd's site. At first glance, it looks like a pretty cool kennel-free boarding place. Except that once you take your dog there, you can't take it back. And upon further inspection, it quickly gets more and more wacky. Like this quote, taken from the FAQ page:
My dog is very high strung and often gets into fights with other dogs. I can control this now, but what happens when fights break out on the island? Fights break out occassionally, but this is not a real issue, because eventually, the dogs learn to get along. Every now and then some dogs gang up and kill and then eat another dog, but this is just natural, and it's okay for it to happen now and then, but normally this is not the case.
Wow. That really made me feel better about bringing my dog to your facility. This one is a jem too:
Let's discuss how you and your dog can benefit from working with Dog Island. Believe it or not, no matter how happy you dog may seem now, it's true that he is still a slave to you.But the best stuff on this site comes from the "vacation island" explanation, where you and your dog can go hang out with 50 other people and their dogs for one month. Apparently it is very expensive:
Vacation Island, on the other hand, is very very expensive. It is only for rich people who have that kind of money to spend...
Some people have thought it to be cruel to come to Vacation Island. However, this is not the case. We take the selfless view here on Dog Island, and so should you and our dog. By bringing your dog to Vacation Island, yes, you will be emotionally teasing our dog, however, what you are doing is supporting the freedom of so many other dogs, that we believe the sacrifice your dog has to make is worth it. Your dog will cry as the helicopter takes you and him away from the Island, but his memories will live forever, and you will have helped pave the way to a better future.
We apologize to not offer this to poor people but it takes an enormous amount of money to afford this type of beauty... Special Note: We are booked for the next 12 years.
Of course the dog will cry! It's in a helicopter! And 12 years? Nutty.
