B: Stuff

Just got done with a 2 hour long Quicken session. Why is it so damn hard to get things setup in that dang program? It is ridiculous! It's kinda sorta all set now, but it still hasn't told me how we are magically cut back our spending so that Mandy can quit. Stupid software, it made me miss my dinner.

Other news...

Got a new BBQ. That rocks, but I find we are are eating more meat as a result. Not sure that is a great thing. We went with gas because I was tired of the whole charcoal process. Sure it tastes better, but I just wasn't using it nearly as much as I am this one. Maybe that was a good thing.

Mandy is really showing now and tired a lot. Not much of a surprise for a pregnant woman.

A picture from the last post all of a sudden disapeared. Thats weird. I don't really think I was supposed to use that picture like that, but it was adbusters so fuck them. They steal and distort peoples images constantly.

I guess there really isn't any news really, but the blog felt neglected so I had to post something. Maybe I should post something controversial.

Controversial Question:

Are haikus any more useless than any other form of poetry?

I have heard some poets rip on Haikus and that pisses me off because frankly what makes them so damn special? They are the unappreciated Frost or Plath and I am crap. They are a unique and beautiful snowflakes and nobody else is worth a shit! That must be it.

Poetic structure
Confines useless blathering
To three lines of text

More superiour than a couplet but less powerful than a quatrain.

Ahh, what do I know. I raised tadpoles in a coffee decanter.

I gave up on Quicken about 2 months into it. It was bemusing to view the piecharts and realize just how much was allocated for gasoline every month (and YEAR for that matter!).

Just you wait, I will start posting everything in iambic pentameter!

Haikus are a riot. I'm not a fan of the serious, classic ones (though I suppose I can see the minimalist value) but I LOVE when people get going on them re. work or computers or freeway traffic and you realize how clever people are with words. :-) Funny and understated.

Good luck with the Quicken. I spent a while tracking everything in Money, but I decided that the amount of time I had to devote to upkeep was not worth the pretty graphs. I hope that your software is manageable than I remember... :-)
